A similar structure will be put into place in the new Hazard Zone mode. As a result, last-gen players will also have the maps scaled back in order to make sure teams aren't spread out too wide and the combat is paced in a logical way. On last-gen, players will be stuck with the standard 64 players. The player count in Battlefield 2042 allows for up to 128 players on current-gen and PC, creating the biggest multiplayer matches the franchise has ever seen. In theory, this should appropriately manage the chaos and allow for a more suspenseful match on massive maps. Due to the more tactical, slower-paced yet still intense nature of Battlefield 2042's Hazard Zone, DICE has opted to reduce the player count to only allow for a handful of squads. The player count in Battlefield 2042'sHazard Zone is significantly smaller than that of the one seen in the standard multiplayer mode.
